Mom wants justice for son

The deceased promised his mother that he was not going to stay for hours at the local tavern.

Tsakani – The mother of Gugulethu Ngejane, who was shot and killed by his long-term friend in March, demands justice.
It is alleged the deceased (33) was invited to a night out by his long-term friend after months of not getting along.
The deceased’s mother, Sindiswa Ngejane (58), said she suspects the two were fighting over the money the suspect’s mother owed Gugulethu.

“My son complained about the money they owed him but never told me the full details or how much he was owed.
“I suspect he worked at the family’s tavern but was never paid,” she explained.
The grieving mother added that she was happy when she saw the two friends getting along again when the suspect visited the family two weeks before Gugulethu’s death.
He offered to take Gugulethu out and sponsor their drinks, an offer Gugulethu turned down.
The suspect visited the family again one Saturday night and managed to convince the deceased to go out with him.

The deceased promised his mother he was not going to stay out for hours at the local tavern.
The mother was shocked when two neighbours knocked on her door in the early hours of Sunday morning to inform her that Gugulethu had been shot and killed.
“When I arrived on the scene, I found my son in a pool of his own blood with gunshot injuries to his head.
“The police report revealed that he was shot in his mouth and the bullet pierced his skull,” she added.
The mother is concerned nothing is being done about the case.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu confirmed they are investigating a case of murder.
“Once all the investigations are completed, the case will be placed on the court roll,” she said.
