Kwa-Thema – Police are investigating a case of business robbery after a group of 10 men robbed Food World supermarket on Tuesday evening.
It is alleged the armed robbers, who covered their faces with masks, entered the supermarket and made their way to the deli, where they found the manager and threatened her at gunpoint.
They then forced her to open the office where the safe is located.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Const Nkululeko Magudulela said they forced the manager to open the safe, where numerous cash bags were kept.

“The suspects took the bags containing cash and left the office. While making their way out, they also forced some of the cashiers to open the tills and they too were emptied,” he said.
It is alleged one of the robbers fired a shot inside the supermarket and all 10 fled the scene.
It is unclear how they made their getaway.
Magudulela added the robbers made off with approximately R20 000 and two cellphones.
