Caring4Girls elevates learners’ spirits
“This donation will boost our learners’ confidence.”
Tsakani – More than 90 000 packs of sanitary towels are set to benefit learners.
One of the schools that benefited from this initiative was Tholulwazi Secondary School, where each girl learner walked away with six packs of sanitary towels on Tuesday.
The event was also attended by the CEO of Imbumba Foundation, Richard Mabaso.
The donation was made possible by Linda Reddy, the director of supply chain for Africa, Middle East and India at Nando’s.

Reddy recently hiked to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for her chosen project, Caring4Girls.
Her goal is to provide sanitary towels to 2 500 girls.
Through the initiative, she was able to raise about R450 000.
“As someone with a daughter, Caring4Girls stands for a cause that is particularly dear to me.
“They aim to ensure no schoolgirl will ever have to miss school during their menstrual cycle and to ensure there’s access to much-needed sanitary towels across South Africa,” she said.
She urged learners to study hard, chase their dreams and travel.
Reddy said to help more girls reach their full potential, it must be ensured that all girls have the opportunity to learn and grow with dignity.
“I used to go to a school like this one and didn’t think I could achieve my dreams of travelling or getting out of that situation.
“Everything seemed to be so far away.
“I had to push myself, study hard and today I have two degrees and a master’s.
“I always tell myself that I can do more,” she said.

Elated school principal Joe Jiyane said the gesture is appreciated by the school.
“This donation will boost our learners’ confidence.
“We are privileged to have them come to our school and share these gifts with us.
“There are many other schools they could have chosen but they chose us, and that means a lot to us,” he said.
