Tsakani police were called to Marikana, Tsakani, at 07:20 on Monday after receiving reports of a murder.
On the police’s arrival, the body of a woman estimated to be in her late 20s was found in an open veld near New Road.
“The victim was declared dead by paramedics on scene.
“She was not identified and the police are calling on families who suspect the deceased might be one of their own to come forward for the arrangement for identification.
“Any community member who might have seen what transpired at the scene or elsewhere, as there is a possibility that the victim was killed somewhere and later brought to the scene of the crime, is urged to come forward,” said Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, communications officer for Tsakani SAPS.

Tsakani SAPS station commander Col Goodwill Khumbulani Mbatha was saddened by the incident.
He called upon all community members to take hands and team up going forward and to condemn gender-based violence in the strongest way possible as the Constitution guarantees the right to life for all citizens of South Africa.
