Women empowerment workshop held
Project X facilitator Odireleng More said their objective is to equip women with business skills to sustain themselves.
Kwa-Thema – Women in business was the focus of a recent entrepreneurial workshop hosted by local NPO Project X, in collaboration with JA South Africa (formerly Junior Achievement South Africa).
The workshop, with the theme Design Thinking, was held at the Kwa-Thema Skills Family Centre.
Female entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 benefited from the programme.
JA South Africa provides a learning platform to empower the youth with practical entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy and work readiness.
The workshop was funded by Tribeca.

Project X facilitator Odireleng More said their objective is to equip women with business skills to sustain themselves.
“Our motivation stems from the impact lockdown has had on businesses around the country, with special focus on female-owned businesses.
“For the workshop, we touched on various topics, including how to create multiple streams of income, poverty alleviation and gender-based violence,” he said.
Bonga Khumalo from JA South Africa explained design thinking is a human-oriented methodology to innovation.

He said the idea is centred in understanding customers’ needs, rapid prototyping, and generating creative ideas that will transform the way entrepreneurs establish products, services, processes and organisations.
The organisation is working to host more workshops of this nature within Kwatsaduza.
“We hope to make more impact on the women in Kwatsaduza through skills development and development finance in the future.
“Women have been instrumental during times of struggle, and we need them fully capacitated to build and resurrect our struggling economy,” said More.
