Police to arrest people who take the law into their own hands
Manaka urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands by carrying out mob justice on suspected offenders.
Duduza – A suspected criminal was killed by an angry mob in Zamani Section on Sunday night.
It is alleged the group went to the deceased’s home and accused him of stealing some of their valuables. They tied him to a tree and assaulted him.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said after the crowd dispersed, the accused went to his outside bedroom to sleep.
“His body was found by his mother the following morning when she went to check up on him,” he explained.
The matter was attended to as an inquest but later the police received information about the assault.

The case will now be changed to murder and arrests are expected to be made soon.
Manaka urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands by carrying out mob justice on suspected offenders.
“This can only make things worse as it will not solve the issue but instead get people into trouble with the law,” he added.
In another case, the police also found a badly assaulted and mutilated body of an unknown man.
The body was discovered on the morning of September 28 next to Spaarwater Dam in Zamani.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information about a missing person, those who may have witnessed the incident or who may know those responsible to contact the Duduza detectives on 082 828 6048.
