Mayor takes his second jab

 Kwatsaduza – As part of the Vooma Vaccinate Weekend, Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina took the lead to take his second jab of the Pfizer vaccine at the DH Williams Hall in Katlehong.
He was joined by members of his mayoral committee Clr Makhosazana Maluleke and Clr Lesiba Mpya, who also jumped at the opportunity to get their jabs.

The Vooma Vaccinate Weekend drive is aimed at accelerating and encouraging more residents to get their jabs before the start of the anticipated fourth wave of Covid-19.
Masina said he was due to take his second Pfizer vaccine on October 13.
“However, when the president announced that we all need to make sure we are fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus, I decided to do the right thing and take it much earlier. I’m glad that some of the members of the mayoral committee also took the vaccine.

“I am hopeful that a total of 2.7 million of the population of the metro will be vaccinated,” he said.
According to President Cyril Ramaphosa, over 8.6 million people are fully vaccinated, which is more than one-fifth of the adult population, and to date over 17 million vaccine doses have been administered in the country.
