Former addicts hold awareness campaign
They recently held an anti-drug campaign to educate and empower young people and offer support to those affected by drugs.
Kwatsaduza – Masakhane Support Care Centre is a drug-free movement established by recovering drug addicts Themba Makobane and Siyabonga Mbatha.
The organisation was established in 2018 by both founders after they completed rehab.

The event was held at Duduza Rank, where attendees were served food and beverages.
Makobane, who was a drug addict for 11 years, said the organisation aims to change the lives of others.

“We want to change the lives of individuals who have become slaves to drugs.
“I think it is important for people to realise that it is possible to quit but only if you are determined.
“The journey to being drug-free is never easy but doable,” he said.
The event was supported by local businesses, NPOs and the community.
Mbatha said a drug-free society will require the community to work together.

“We are appealing to anyone who would like to offer a helping hand to reach out to us.
“There are many of our brothers and sisters who are determined to live a drug-free life and would appreciate any kind of help,” he said.
