Quantum criminals strike again
It is claimed the man was about to pull out a gun, concealed in his waistband, when two men approached and he ran back to the taxi.
Tsakani – A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault of Nothando Kubeka during an attempted mugging in Tsakani last weekend.
It is alleged while Kubeka was on her way to a kota outlet in the area, a Toyota Quantum with four male occupants stopped next to her and demanded her purse and cellphone.
A fight over her valuables ensued. She managed to disarm one of the attackers of the knife with which he had threatened her.

Kubeka said the two other perpetrators ran back to the taxi and the other continued assaulting her and turned more violent.
He punched, kicked and stomped on her head, threatening to kill her.

“I almost died for my last R20. It is even more painful thinking about it because they didn’t manage to take the purse that they almost killed me for,” she added.
Kubeka had to undergo surgery on her hand after sustaining deep cuts from the knife while fighting to disarm her attacker.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu confirmed a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm is under investigation.
“The three other suspects are still on the loose. We are urging anyone with information about their identity or any information that may lead to their arrest to come forward.
“We are also calling on other victims to report their cases to the police,” she added.
