My name is Thembelani Dimani, Ward 75 ANC candidate. I have been in this community of Springs for more than 20 years.
Through the year I have taken it upon myself to attend to service delivery issues, such as electricity outages, sewer blockages, potholes, grass-cutting, stormwater blockages, high mast lights, etc.
I attended each and every challenge reported to me by community members and report them to municipality offices or use municipality call centre numbers or the USSD system. I have had a good relationship with the CCC manager for the past 10 years.
I have worked with all sport organising committees, organising netball and soccer tournaments, grading of sports grounds, installation of soccer poles, engaging local companies, local projects for job opportunities for people in our ward.
When elected as the ward councillor, I pledge to do my best on the following:
• Accessible to the community: by having monthly community meetings to receive community challenges and report back on progress.
• Service delivery champion: by being at the forefront in ensuring the community receive services properly.
• Education and skills development: work closely with the community and other stakeholders to ensure all children are at school, have access to bursaries, internships and skills development programme.
• Access to better healthcare: ensure the community have access to healthcare services and ambulances.
• Sport, recreation, art and culture: work with stakeholders in this area in promoting participation from the community at large in particular the youth and children, and advocate for better facilities.
• Local economic development: to advocate for the participation of the community in spin-off opportunities on infrastructure development projects through jobs and business opportunities, engage the private and public sector on business development programmes and push for a corporate social responsibility programme.
• Community safety: working with the community and law enforcement agencies in fighting and combating crime in the ward.
