Grade 12 learner wishes peers good luck for exams

Kwa-Thema – A Grade 12 learner at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School, Sibongile Mabena, said hard work and dedication is her secret to excelling in her final school exams.
The 17-year-old recently received four academic certificates for geography, life sciences, English and life orientation during an award ceremony at the school.
This brings the number of academic certificates she has obtained during her academic journey to a total of 29, as well as five trophies and four medals.
Sibongile has also won two spelling bee awards, including a medal for fourth place in the Pfuxani spelling bee competition, six certificates for sports and 15 medals.

She received her first academic certificate in mathematics while she was in Grade R.
She said the matric journey has been a great experience, yet challenging and strenuous.

“To maintain all the distinctions, I have been putting in the hard work, utilising the library and YouTube channels to help improve my understanding.
“I also use past papers to help me understand how the questions were set and what is expected of me,” she added.

She said she is motivated by the words of Walt Disney, who said: “All dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them”.
“This has been my driving force and helped me focus on the end-goal of graduating cum laude at the prestigious Stellenbosch University and being a doctor of philosophy in geology.
“To my fellow candidates, the Class of 2021, I am wishing you nothing but the best of luck.
“May every question paper we touch bear fruitful results, and urge each and every one of us to focus on the end-goal,” she added.
