Duduza – Nunes Alfanso (41) was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for hijacking by the Tsakani Regional Court recently.
It is alleged Alfanso and an accomplice contacted the victim, Victor Makaleni, who runs a moving and transport agency in Alexandra.
When he arrived in Tsakani in his bakkie, Alfanso asked him to drive to Vlakfontein where they met up with the accomplice.

Makaleni was then forced into an open veld at gunpoint.
They then drove off with the bakkie, leaving the victim in the veld.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said Makaleni managed to find his way out of the bushes.
“The car was tracked and recovered. One of the suspects managed to flee the scene and Alfanso was arrested on the spot,” he said.
Manaka added that WO Bobe Nene took over the case and worked hard to ensure the court has enough evidence to ensure a sentence.
The court also declared Alfanso unfit to possess a firearm.
“This is the second sentence in two weeks where hijackers received harsh sentences,” he added.able to find his way out and contacted his vehicle’s tracking company for help and the police were alerted.
