Thabo Motaung is from Duduza and has worked as a youth manager in social development and chairperson for NPO Ubuntu Youth Empowerment Forum.
The role he’s played in community development is as follows:
• Bought 200 pairs of school shoes for informal settlement children.
• Adopted two young people and contributed to their tertiary finance. One is studying law with Unisa and the other has completed his studies and is employed by Unisa.
• Reblocking programme for Thabo Village informal settlement.
• Construction of Duduza Customer Care Centre (CCC), water and energy office, refurbishment of old CCC building, construction of Bluegum houses (Zamani).
• Tarring of roads in Cool Breeze.
“We are going to ensure all residents who have C forms from housing benefit from John Dube Mega Project and all backyard dwellers also benefit from this project.
“Ensure informal settlements are electrified and receive proper infrastructure (water and sewer).
“Ensure local economic programme emancipation benefits businesses.”
