Duduza – A truck driver was arrested on Friday morning after failing to provide police with a clear explanation about copper cables found in his possession.
The 38-year-old driver was nabbed while driving along the R550 Road by Duduza Crime Prevention Unit members as they were patrolling.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the area is notorious for abandoned hijacked vehicles and drivers.

“The truck was spotted as it was followed by two other vehicles and it was suspected that it might be hijacked. Police stopped it and upon investigation, they made the discovery.
“The driver was travelling from Mpumalanga and failed to give a satisfactory explanation when asked about the consignment he was carrying.
“He was arrested on the spot and the copper was seized. The truck was also booked in as evidence,” he explained.
The driver is expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
