Crimes spike in Zamani Waag Plek

In the same month, the body of a male was found badly mutilated not far from the same spot as the robbery.

Duduza – Residents of Zamani Waag Plek are overwhelmed by the spate of violent crimes carried out in recent weeks.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said on Saturday evening a male was robbed of cash and cellphones during a robbery at his home.
It is alleged the victim had just arrived home with his friend when he was attacked by two unknown men armed with a knife and a firearm.

“They pushed him into the house with his wife as she was opening the door. They were then assaulted with the firearm and forced to hand over their cash and cellphones,” he explained.
In another incident, last month in the same area, a mechanic was shot and killed as he arrived at his home.

Duduza police are worried the community may be faced with a siege from criminals who intend to terrorise residents.
Police are monitoring the area and reassuring residents they are doing everything to keep them safe and have increased their visibility in the area.
Investigations are ongoing in the reported cases and police are adamant that arrests will be made soon.
