Kwa-Thema – Cleo Bodibe-Lushaba from the Gauteng Liquor Board stepped in to host the annual senior citizens’ workshop last Thursday.
“The board could not assist this year due to budget constraints resulting from Covid-19, which impacted on liquor traders’ ability to trade and pay the annual liquor trading licence fees,” explained Bodibe-Lushaba, who is the director of client relations management for the Gauteng Liquor Board.
She partnered with some of her friends to honour and empower the Ratanang Senior Citizens group.
Ratanang was founded by Nomvula Sibanyoni over seven years ago and is still going strong.
“Covid-19 had a negative impact, as several meetings and workshops have had to be cancelled or reduced,” added Bodibe-Lushaba.
Alcohol abuse and medical and chronic disease management were some of the topics discussed on the day.
The event took place at Hlubi’s Lounge.
