Institute of Mathematics to launch winter camp for learners

Kwatsaduza – High school learners are invited to enrol for an upcoming camp to be held by the Institute of Mathematics.
The organisation previously assisted learners from disadvantaged communities with mathematics, physical science and accounting.
Learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12 can apply, however, an assessment will be part of the selection process.
The camp will be launched from July 22 to the 24 in Krugersdorp.
“This year things have been reformatted, we will be selecting top-performing learners in township schools to prepare them for university.
“This will be achieved through our strategic partnership with the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants, Thuthuka Bursary Fund, Komatsu Mining and JSE to mention a few.
“The programme will benefit learners in Kwatsaduza and Etwatwa,” stated the founder, Ntsane Masiloane.
Attendees will be equipped with study skills, how to apply for tertiary education, bursaries and placement into a mentorship programme.

He also added that this new programme is intended to cancel the previous one.
“When the organisation was established the goal was to help struggling learners and we have been able to achieve that.
“We have worked with more than 5000 learners, many of whom were able to improve from level two to seven in the above-mentioned subjects.
“At the moment my schedule is no longer as flexible as it used to be.
“Now I am only available for classes on Saturdays whereas before we had them Monday to Saturday,” he explained.
The camp is free of charge including the stay and food.
Transport will also be made available on the day.
