Young runners fight to be crowned champions

Born to Run Athletic Club aims to qualify for the Cross Country provincial championships.

Langaville – Born2Run Athletic Club will be competing in the Central Gauteng Athletics league of the 2022 Cross-Country at Delta Park in Randburg on Saturday.
Sixteen young runners from Menzi Primary School will be fighting for their position to qualify for the championships which will be held in Amanzimtoti in September.
Team coach Joseph Mokolo said he is proud of his players for their hard work and continued dedication.

“I can see their hunger to win, this gives me hope that they will come back as qualifiers to the provincial championships and eventually compete in the national championships.
“I want to see them being crowned winners, they deserve the gold medals,” he explained.
The team has, to date, participated in four league runs which were kick-started at Sam Ntuli Stadium in Thokoza on May 7, where over 500 runners participated.
The league is expected to be concluded with the provincial championships on August 20 which will qualify them for the national championships in September.
