Tsakani – Members of SAPS social crime prevention held a women dialogue on Friday at Tsakani SAPS Hall.
This was part of Women’s Month celebrations under the theme, I am woman greatest and beautiful.
This was in collaboration with the local CPF, Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and Government Communication Information System.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu said the event was held to empower women to fight GBV, drug abuse and other forms of abuse in the area.
“We also wanted to address some of the challenges they are facing socially and economically. We wanted to remind women to be courageous and resilient, like the women of 1956 who stood their ground and fought to be heard,” she explained.

She added that even though women are facing different struggles from the women of 1956, they can learn to be strong and face challenges head-on.
Tsakani SAPS support head Lieutenant Colonel Aneline Wessels encouraged women to change their uncomfortable and negative situations to become positive.
The day was full of education, entertainment and giveaway gifts.
Three unemployed women including the speaker and survivors of GBV received the opportunity to become entrepreneurs.
They received hair products as start-up stock and will also receive training from Thandi Nkosi.
