Local NPO, KUSO hosted a fundraising event

Kwa-Thema – Community members came out in numbers to support local NPO, Kutlwano Social Organisation’s (KUSO) Heritage Day fundraising event at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on Saturday.
The affair kick-started with a fun walk, followed by a raffle, fun activities for the children and soccer games.
According to the organisation’s head of sports and recreation, Musi Zondo, the purpose of the event was to raise funds to sustain their charity work.
“The event was a success as we were able to meet our target for the day with the support of the community.
“These funds will go a long way in helping the underprivileged communities we have worked with throughout the years. Our goal is to continue to lend a helping hand where possible,” explained Zondo.

The NPO gives back to the community in a form of school uniforms, food parcels and blankets to individuals, families, schools, old age homes and orphanages.
They collaborated with Masimong Foundation, Kwa-Thema Striders and Tshipi Noto for the event.
The chairperson of the organisation, Dali Mofokeng said: “We are excited to host and engage with the community on this important day and to use this platform to tackle social issues like gender-based violence, substance abuse and general socioeconomic challenges people are faced with.”
Resident Vusi Jiyana said he was happy to participate in the event.
“As we are also commemorating heart awareness month, I felt the need to join in on the fun walk.
“The initiative has been amazing and my body feels great as well as walking is good for the heart,” said Jiyana.
