Murder case postponed again

Family demands justice for murdered Paula Mqoma.

Kwa-Thema- The case against the man who is accused of killing Paula Mqoma has been postponed again by the Springs Magistrates Court.
This was the suspect’s third attempt to apply for bail. His bail application was postponed to October 19.
Paula’s mother Ellen Mbonani said all she wants is justice for her daughter.
“My wish is for the matter to be prioritised and sentence the suspect as soon as possible so that he can start paying for what he did to my daughter.
“Every time I have to go to court I am reminded of the pain that my daughter went through and that I was not there to support her,” she added.
Paula, a 47-year-old from Ext Two, died at Pholosong Hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by her long-term boyfriend.

From crime scene to courtroom

She suffered head injuries and lost function on her left side. She was rushed to the hospital by paramedics following an alleged fight between her and her boyfriend.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Constable Nkululeko Magudulela said witnesses allege the couple frequently fought until the early hours of the morning.
“On the night leading to Paula’s death, the two were allegedly fighting again and she could be heard screaming for help,” he explained.
Speaking on behalf of the OneStrong Voice Foundation, Brian Sithole said, “We condemn gender-based violence, especially against women and children.
“We are calling on the state to punish those responsible for the senseless murder to be denied bail and be punished accordingly.
“We appreciate the support from the community and urge them to continue supporting other victims and their families during their time of need,” he added.
