Duduza – Njabulo Nimrod Ndebele Secondary School celebrated its 35th anniversary since the school was established back in 1987.
The celebration, held in Duduza on Saturday at the Duduza Church Hall, was attended by former learners and teachers.
Former learner Sello Pulumo said, “NN Nbebele Secondary School former learners realize that from a business standpoint no resource is as important as the human resource.
“To ensure that students have every academic advantage necessary to excel as productive members of Duduza and the business community and society, we are reaching out to anyone in Duduza and the surrounding areas hoping that they will join us in the school reunion, the NN Ndebele Alumni has organised.”

Eric Monaledi, also a former learner said, “This has been put together to ensure cross-pollination between the previous generation of students and the present one.
“We desire to inspire excellence in the contemporary generation and pass on the ‘baton of pride’ in the academic excellence of our township institutions.”
Monaledi said unfortunately in these dire economic times, the ability of the school system and the alumni to get the tools necessary to help learners surprised all of them beyond expectations.
“That is why we came together, some as far as Atlanta the USA, for the amalgamation of generations reunion, celebrating 35 years of the existence of the school,” said Monaledi.

“The event was the first to have ever happened in Duduza. Former teachers of the former learners were in attendance. Emotions were high after some met 35 years later with their former learners,” said Sizakele Mavimbela.
The former learners, with the leadership of Katiso Rantlha, chairperson of the alumni group, are unionising the book launch of the school for their next project in 2023.
“We want to pass our generosity that will go on the annals of the school as a memorial. It will also make everyone involved in being a key partner in providing a beacon of light to those who will derive inspiration from this initiative,” said Rantlha.
Mfanelo Somfaka thanked the sponsors of the day, “Much appreciation to the donors in the business fraternity from greater Nigel to have made it a huge success.”
