Shaun’s alleged killers abandoned bail

Tsakani – The three suspects arrested for killing Shaun Mphela have abandoned their bail application at the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The case was postponed to March 24 and will be heard at the Tsakani Regional Court.
The 17-year-old Grade 10 learner at Geluksdal Secondary School was stabbed to death outside his school two weeks ago.
It is alleged a fight broke out after three Grade 10 boy learners pepper sprayed other learners in class.

Shaun and other learners called out the group but the disgruntled learners threatened that they will meet them outside the school premises.
It is alleged the group alerted elder gang members who waited for Shaun and his friends outside the school grounds and attacked them.
During the fight, one of the attackers was assaulted by the learners and the other two managed to flee the scene.
The deceased’s father Seun Mahlangu said maybe it is for the better that the suspects decided to abandon their bail application.

“The residents and learners are still on the edge and might take the law into their own hands if the suspects receive bail.
“I will also not be held responsible for my actions if the suspects are released, they killed my son most cruelly and for that, they must never see the light of day.
“I know that will not bring my son back but they don’t deserve to be part of our society. They tormented my son for years until they killed him,” he added.
