Awareness campaign on substance abuse in Duduza
Learners encouraged to stay off drugs.
Duduza – The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (SANCA) Nigel held a Ke Moja (I’m fine without drugs) awareness and prevention programme at Mmuso Primary School in Duduza on Friday.
SANCA Eastern Gauteng Nigel is a substance abuse programme that renders services in Nigel, Dunnottar, Sharon Park, Duduza and Alra Park.
Ke Moja co-ordinator Lebohang Nkopodi said, “We, as SANCA, help communities and people of all ages with substance abuse challenges through therapy by a team of qualified social workers that includes individual and group therapy sessions, prevention and awareness programmes, referral to inpatient centres and an aftercare programme.
“Ke Moja used the language children understand better with dance, drama, poetry and a puppet show.
“All the programmes have substance abuse messages. Ke Moja programmes take services to schools, surrounding parks, churches, and clinics targeting youth, children and parents to decrease and prevent substance use and misuse in schools and communities and also provide a healthy boost to the communities’ self-confidence, self-esteem and life satisfaction.”
