Tsakani choir compete in the LECMA competition
Tsakani Youth choristers in need of a new uniform to be able to attend an event later in the year
Tsakani – Vusi Dladla has rebranded the Mbongeni Mgududu Secondary School Choir to a choir to be reckoned with.
The 60-member group was formed three years ago and has since been on Dumisa twice. It is now known as Tsakani Extention Youth Choristers.
Dumisani Dladla said he took over the choir after being eliminated at a provincial level in the South African Schools Eisteddfod.
“I saw potential in the choir and took it over with 45 members. It has since grown to 60 members over the years, mainly scholars from local schools. I did not want to see the talent going to waste,” he said.
The intention is also to keep the young members occupied and away from substance abuse and crime.
“We live in a community where drugs and crime ravage the community.
“These young people come from different backgrounds. They come here to combine their passion and eagerness to create one voice and deliver for their audience,” he said.
The choir needs a new uniform for the Lengau Choral Music Association (LECMA) event on October 14 and 15 at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein.
