Gauteng Liquor Board meets women to talk empowerment

The programme is aimed at having conversations with women from all walks of life and different sectors.

Kwa-Thema – In celebration of women, the Gauteng Liquor Board (GLB) held a women empowerment programme on Tuesday at the Holiness Union Church in Masimini, Kwa-Thema.

The programme aimed at having conversations with women from all walks of life and different sectors.

GLB director for client relations management, Cleo Bodibe-Lushaba, said: “We should go back to our roots in families and take up our roles. Fathers must be fathers and mothers must be mothers. The children should learn right from wrong and should get that from us.”

She said when parents aren’t disciplined then families become dysfunctional.

“When a mother gets home on time, then children will know what time they should be home,” she said.

Bodibe-Lushaba said church bodies should also learn from liquor traders.

“People I work with in the liquor trading field are able to give back to communities, they know how to care for those who don’t have which is something we should learn from,” she said.

Ratanang Elderly Organisation founder, Nomvula Anna Sibanyoni said the organisation teaches women love, prayer and respect.

“As women in Ratanang we know who the next person is and that is a human being and we treat them as we would also like to be treated,” Sibanyoni said.

The women also had a Q and A session where they spoke about different issues affecting women.
