Buhlebethu NPO eliminates HIV/Aids stereotypes
Nthabiseng Zofa said they decided to feature activities that teach people preventative techniques.
Kwa-Thema – To commemorate World Aids Day, Buhlebethu NPO educated residents about HIV/Aids and helped eliminate some stereotypes associated with the disease.
People of all ages attended the event on Friday at the Reformed Church in Kwa-Thema under the theme Bring Back to Community.
Nthabiseng Zofa said with all the education at people’s disposal, there are still many testing HIV-positive, especially young people.
“Daily, we hear people sharing myths about the virus. If not addressed, this will erode all our work done over the years.
“We decided to feature activities, teaching them preventative techniques and how to coexist with those who have chronic illnesses that impact our communities,” she said.
Buhlebethu NPO is actively involved in helping local schools with a feeding programme and cleaning needs.
In the early childhood development centres, they help with the foundation phase work.
