WATCH: Mixed voting experiences in Tsakani Ext 17

Voter sentiment at the polls was divided, ranging from satisfaction to frustration.

Tsakani – The Tsakani Ext 17 voting station continues to receive voters as residents head to the polls today (November 4) for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

There are only a few people queuing to cast their votes.

Palesa Masana says her voting experience was smooth. She explains that the entire process, from queuing to casting her vote, took less than 20 minutes.

Masana, who is a community healthcare worker at the local clinic, has identified electricity and water shortages as some of the biggest challenges affecting Ward 86.

“Yesterday there was no electricity and no water. We work with patients, and when there is no electricity and water, everything stops.”

Masana says she is hoping for change following the elections.

“We are asking for change. Let there be change.”

However, not everyone left the voting station satisfied. Mamiki Kodisang was disappointed after she was unable to cast her vote.

She says an IEC official informed her that she was registered in Atteridgeville and could not cast her ballot at the local voting station.

“I am disappointed,” she said.
