Residents voice frustratation at voting station in Langaville Ext 8
Some residents arrived from as early as 04:00 to cast their ballot.
Tsakani – Residents of Ward 79 have come in numbers to cast their vote, and the queue at the Sanco voting station in Langaville Ext 8 has been divided in two to accommodate elderly voters.
Some voters are angry, however, as IEC officials allegedly stated that residents will vote according to the alphabetical order of their surnames.
Residents say they have been voting for years and have never encountered this before
“We have been here since 04:00 and now we are told that we will be entering by our surnames, which is unfair.
“If they do this, then we might as well go home because we are old and can’t stand longer” said one elderly resident.
More voters are expected to arrive during the day as the station opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00.
