On the path to greatness
She was named the top student for mathematics, social science, Isizulu , English and creative arts.
Simphiwe Siyamthanda Dladla (13) is the star learner at Fred Hadebi Primary School for 2023. At the school’s recent awards ceremony, Simphiwe bagged nine awards.
She was the top learner in mathematics, social science, Isizulu, English and the creative arts. She was also rewarded for dramatised poetry.
She has the highest average in the senior phase.
“I maintain my results by having various studying methods. I use active recall, the blurring method and helping other learners.
“I also grasp most of the information while being taught in the classroom. I believe that sharing knowledge is the best way to gain it,” explained Simphiwe.
The learner prides herself on being a maths whizz and artistic.
“When I grow up, I want to be a software engineer because I will have many job opportunities.
“It also includes robotics and advanced technology that could help with convenience in the future.
“I would like to create an app that will help promote child safety since human trafficking is on the rise,” she added.
Her sister, Thandazo, said she feels proud to be her sister.

“She’s been clever from a very young age. She would cry for my books and want to sit with me while I did my schoolwork.
“She was curious because I studied science, so I allowed her to be curious and showed her the advanced maths I do, and she would be blown away.
“I am so proud because I mentored her. She is now this bright young lady.
“The only down side is holding intellectual conversations at odd times with her when you’re sleepy and she wants to do a discourse on even political issues,” she added.
