Residents clean up area

Ngwenze and TK cleaned an open area.

Kwa-Thema – Two residents took it upon themselves to clean an open space between Three Lines (Tikiline), Tornado, and Riverside piled with rubbish.

Vusi ‘Ngwenze’ Zinto and Thokozani ‘TK’ Zwane started cleaning the illegal dumping site last Monday and are continuing to clean it.

TK said, “This place was dirty and smelly, so we decided to clean it. Health is our top priority in our area.”
Ngwenze added they can maintain the area if the community works with them.

He said they appeal to the ward councillor to help them with whatever materials are needed to keep the area clean.

Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane said he would try to speak to some business people to help with tools that would assist in maintaining the area.

“I also plead with the community to refrain from using the area as a dumping site. They should use the 240l wheelie bins to dispose of rubbish,” Simelane said.
