Martini gets people moving

Martini believes it is important to instil good fitness habits in the youth because the sooner they start, the better quality lives they can lead.

Geluksdal – A young fitness trainer and soccer player wants to empower his community to live an active lifestyle.
Fabian Martini’s passion for physical health was triggered in 2020.

“I always focused on keeping fit because of my sports involvement. But in 2020, I saw a video of a guy doing Superman push-ups.

“I wanted to do that because I knew it was not something that just anyone could do. Then I started working towards that goal,” explained the 23-year-old.

He attended SAFA Transnet Football School of Excellence from Grade Eight on a scholarship.

“I did every sport available, excelling in athletics and soccer,” he added.

Martini believes fitness education is vital because many people do not know much about the physical and mental benefits of fitness training.

“If people understood how training could improve their lives, they would be keener to do it. Being active helps you to be more productive and energetic throughout the day.

“You can also live longer if your cardiovascular health improves, which can help prevent some chronic diseases,” he said.

Martini believes it is more important to instil good fitness habits in the youth because the sooner they start, the better quality lives they can lead.

The young man hopes to inspire other young people to take care of their bodies and live healthier lives.

“I have become a role model. I think they look up to me because of what I do,” he added.

One of the few challenges the gym fanatic faces is inconsistency from participants.

“Sometimes, the people in my community can’t afford the rates for my services, which are not steep. But I am glad I am in this community; it is convenient for them. I love nothing more than to see people reach their body goals and live active lives,” he said.

Martini also encouraged people of all ages to find ways to move their bodies daily.
