Peace ambassadors take root in South Africa
Thirteen people were inaugurated into the committee on the day.
The International Ambassadors of Peace Network (IAPN) established its South African chapter on Thursday.
The event took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kwa-Thema.
Founded in 2019, the IAPN emerged from the collective efforts of passionate individuals who saw the need to work towards sustainable peace.
“We included all stakeholders from our community. From church leaders to traditional leaders and chiefs; they will go out to preach and pray for peace.
“Especially now that we are looking towards the national elections in May,” explained Joshua Twala, the director and coordinator for South Africa.
Thirteen people were inaugurated into the committee on the day.
“The community can reach out to us if there are issues of lack of peace and stability. We can help them to resolve those issues.
“We are here to maintain peace in our countries,” he added.
The group will now prepare for the Peace Summit on May 6 in Kyalami.
