Rapper Khuli Chana gifts 100 pupils with school shoes

“These shoes will be new transport for the learners to take them to their future,” Principal Fortune Mhlambi says.

Tsakani – A hundred learners of the Shadrack Mbambo Primary School were gifted with brand new school shoes by the Khuli Chana Foundation and Hollywood Foundation Back to School on Tuesday.

What may seem like a mere necessity might be a luxury to others; there are many South African learners whose education is hindered because they do not have suitable school shoes.

Some learners wear worn-out shoes while others do not have school shoes at all.

The Khuli Chana Foundation and Hollywood Bets are working to combat that issue by donating school shoes to underprivileged learners.

“As Hollywood Bets Foundation, it is our mandate to bring change in communities,” Sibongile Twala, Hollywood Bets Foundation representative said.

While addressing the Grade Seven learners, she spoke about the importance of sharing and helping one another to create a better world.

“If you have an extra pair of shoes at home, bring it to school to give to someone else who needs school shoes,” she said.

The Khuli Chana Foundation was founded by rapper and businessman, Khulane Morule professionally known as Khuli Chana.

He shared some words of wisdom during an interaction with the learners and then surprised them with a performance by musical artist and dancer, Mzwakhe ‘Robot Boii’ Mbuli.

The head of Khuli Chana Foundation, Khuli Chana said he hopes the initiative will venture into building a school.

“The purpose and vision of the foundation is to effect change in the education system,” Khuli Chana said.

This was the fourth school the foundation has donated to since beginning in 2022 and they donated 400 shoes in total.

“We are starting with school supplies such as stationery and school shoes. We are going into the winter, so now we will gift learners with jerseys to keep them warm.

“Eventually we will venture into helping build school structures and building libraries and providing bursaries for the learners.

“We are in the beginning phase of this initiative, and I believe it will take shape to us one day building our own school where children can learn how to become innovative,” he said.

The principal, Fortune Mhlambi, was delighted and grateful for the initiative.

“Normally the teachers are people who don’t have millions and dollars, but when you see your product coming back, that becomes a glorious treasure.

“We would like to thank the sponsors; may God bless them. These shoes will be new transport for the children to take them to their future.

“In the years to come they will also give back because an example has been set before them,” he concluded.
