Hospital staff serve with smiles

The campaign became operational in the Pholosong Hospital in 2019.

Tsakani – Pholosong Hospital’s campaign of serving with a smile brought great results to the staff and patients.

The hospital’s communication officer Fikile Oyekanmi said the institution introduced the ‘I Serve With a Smile’-campaign which the Gauteng MEC of Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo- Ralehoko loved and implemented throughout the province.

The campaign became operational in the Pholosong Hospital in 2019.

“This campaign is an intervention to address staff attitude and bolster morale among healthcare workers and ultimately reduce patient dissatisfaction and complaints,” said Oyekanmi.

The spirit of service to drive the ‘I Serve With a Smile’-campaign takes place every Tuesday at the hospital.

Management and staff work hand in hand to push the drive.

Liyabona Luthuli and Nabela Masomane clean hospital sinks to ensure they are for good use.

On May 8, they focussed their attention on cleaning a newly renovated ward and helping with sorting and distributing the patients’ linen.

“As staff members, we each week attempt to establish work to do in solidarity. We establish loopholes and work together to patch them.

“Our paediatric ward needed our attention. Instead of one team of cleaners working towards cleaning the ward, we all jumped in as management and staff workers,” added Oyekanmi.

Oyekanmi said the campaign was making a huge difference in the hospital and received positive feedback from the public and regular patients.

“We aim to keep things this way. Our patients are more pleasant than before. Our campaign has been of great help within our health institution,” she said.
