Community learns about living a healthier life

The programme will continue on May 24 and conclude on May 25.

Tsakani – Mbalenhle Simelane, a pharmacist, hosted a health and wellness programme with the help of her local church, Langaville Seventh Day Adventist Church, on May 19.

Community members were given access to health care such as blood pressure screenings, glucose, and body mass index (BMI) check-ups.

“We did a few referrals as well. The event aims to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

“We aim to do that by teaching what and how to cook food. How to minimise toxins in the body, the importance of exercise, fresh air and water,” she explained.

Sister Nomcebo Selina Hlophe, a nurse by profession, volunteered her time to help do the screenings.

Simelane said the programme started at 16:00 with screenings and one-on-one consultations.

“By 17:00, we start with the presentations led by our medical missionaries, followed by a questions and rewards session and refreshments,” she said.

The programme will continue at 16:00 on May 24 and conclude on May 25. The closing day will begin at 09:00 with screenings.

“We will have a prayer and share the word of God. The final presentations will follow,” she added.
