Mandlethu Primary learner triumphs in national maths competition with top score

Mathematics prodigy Nondumiso Khoza from Mandlethu Primary School triumphed in the We Solve 4x competition, topping the finals with an impressive 96% after outshining over 1,200 contestants.

Tsakani – Mathematics whizz Nondumiso Khoza, from Mandlethu Primary School, has conquered the We Solve 4x maths competition.

We Solve 4x in partnership with GIBELA organised a competition for Grade Six learners to show their mathematics skills and knowledge.

Out of 1 203 learners who participated in the first round on October 5 at Nigel Primary School, Nondumiso Khoza placed first with 89%.

Mandlethu Primary was represented by 11 learners, of which 10 learners, including Nondumiso, qualified for the last round.

In the final round, 264 learners competed on November 2 at Nigel Primary School. Nondumiso proved unbeaten again. She improved from 89% to 96%.

She was awarded with a trophy, certificate, medal and a voucher. Another learner who made the school proud is Zandile Nkambule.

She improved from position 132 in the first round to position nine with 84% in the final round. She also received a trophy, medal and a certificate.

“I am proud of all the learners who took part and represented the school so well in the competition. All of them showed great improvement in the last round. This proves that teachers are working hard in class.

“Sincerest gratitude to the team of maths educators who work tirelessly in developing maths skills and instil a love love of mathematics in these learners.

“A special thank you to We Solve 4x for running maths Saturday classes to the learners and their parents. Parents are encouraged to support their kids in mathematics,” said the principal Thembeni Mdhluli.
