Of the 10 athletes from the Mamepe Striders Athletics Club participating in the Central Gauteng Athletics Youth, Junior and Senior Provincial Championships on March 15, two made the next round. The event was at the University of Johannesburg Stadium. Thabiso Mokgatla qualified for the school national championships after finishing the U18 3 000m in 8:55 and placing third.
