Young poet uses words to uplift and heal
At just 22, Solomzi Ntwenka, also known as ‘Imbongi Yosiba’, is captivating audiences with multilingual poetry that inspires faith, hope and perseverance.
Kwa-Thema – Solomzi Ntwenka (22), well-known as ‘Solomzi Ntwenka Imbongi Yosiba’, is a profound multilingual poet.
He was born and raised in the village of Newstead (Emampondweni) in Qumbu, Eastern Cape, and his journey has already taken him far from home.
Ntwenka moved to Gauteng in 2019 to find better opportunities. He began writing poetry in 2021 to start his journey towards self-expression.
His work, including the notable poem Sikhokhele Bawo, draws on themes of faith and guidance, offering heartfelt appeals to the Lord.
“I am inspired by everything that involves people. Human experiences are so diverse and complex that it is hard to narrow down my inspiration to just one or two things,” he explained.

He said his poetry reflects on daily realities, challenges and moments of quiet resilience that define the human spirit.
“Through my words, I promote hope, positivity and perseverance by creating verses that help others navigate life’s storms.
“For me, poetry has been more than an art form; it has been a constant companion during difficult times, offering comfort and clarity when I felt lost,” he explained.
He draws inspiration from Vusumuzi Maxwell Masola, known as ‘Condy’, the director of the Voices of Faith Arts Development. He credits Masola for shaping his understanding of art as a whole.
“This guidance has enriched my writing and my appreciation for the wider creative world. Poetry is more than ink on paper; it is a living, breathing force. Performing my work is a joy, especially when I see audiences connect with my words, leaving with renewed motivation and inspiration,” he added.
Ntwenka believes poetry can address complex topics without offending, saying it creates space for honest conversations and connections. The message at the core of his work is hope as a guiding light.

“Even in the darkest times, hope can illuminate the path forward, encouraging optimism and faith in the future. It is a message I hope people will carry with them long after the applause fades,” he said.
He has YouTube videos available for streaming and is active on most social platforms.
He is also featured on the song, Baba Shumayela, by MARS, featuring Long Division and Solomzi Ntwenka (Imbongi Yosiba). It is available on all major digital platforms.
To young dreamers and aspiring poets, his advice is simple yet powerful.
“Everyone’s journey is unique. Stay true to yourself, resist the urge to imitate others and trust that the Lord will fulfil His plans for you in His own time,” he concluded.
