Township artist turns life into lyrics
Prince Ntloane, a local musician, finds purpose and influence in real-life experiences.
Prince Ntloane is well known as ‘Prnce’, without the “i”. He was born and raised in Kwa-Thema but later relocated to Langaville.
He grew up surrounded by musical influences, especially his dad, who listened to hip-hop. Ntloane’s mother loved singing R’n’B, which inspired him to pursue music.
“Being surrounded by hip-hop made me believe it was in me from a young age. My mother influenced the performance side of music.
“The motivation behind my music is rooted in the unfortunate experiences I have faced in my life. Growing up and spending time in the heart of the township forced me into deep introspection.
“It was during this period of reflection and emotional intensity that I created most of my songs. My music is a mirror of that journey; raw, real and grounded in truth,” he explained.

Ntloane began writing his music in Grade Three, saying he already understood the concept of freestyling by that time. His artistic flair and influence were motivated by the popular ‘90s band Sade.
“Everything about the band was influential for me at that time. I started creating beats early last year and have produced an EP titled SIQ (Sometimes I’m Quiet), which will drop in a music video before the audio version,” he said.
He is working on an album, Unamanga Awungazi, to be released on June 6, 2026 – his birthday.
“I am releasing a music video in October for my song titled Mina Nawe. I have many goals I want to achieve. Currently, I wish to broaden my vision through my experiences, because real life influenced my songs.
“My mission by doing so is to give my listeners not only music but first-hand experience awareness through my music,” he added.
