Police shoot fugitive linked to IFP killing
Zamani Ngila Ximba, wanted for the murder of IFP deputy chief whip Khethamabala Sithole, was fatally wounded when he pointed a replica firearm at the police during an early-morning raid in Duduza.
Duduza – Zamani Ngila Ximba, wanted for murder and attempted murder, was fatally wounded early on Thursday morning.
Ximba was a suspect in the killing of IFP deputy chief whip Khethamabala Sithole and the attempted murder of two others, shot on May 31, at a hostel in Katlehong.
Following the incident, the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation Unit, working with Crime Intelligence, launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. Police received information that Ximba was hiding in Duduza.
When officers entered the house, Ximba pointed a firearm at them, prompting the police to open fire. Upon inspection, the officers discovered that Ximba’s weapon was a replica firearm.
Two of his co-accused, Bhekukuhle Sithole and Mkhululi Sithole, were arrested shortly after the murder of Khethamabala Sithole and charged with murder and attempted murder.
A warrant of arrest was issued for Ximba, identified as the third suspect. He had been on the run until the police discovered his hiding place in Duduza.
