Learners take to the skies with National Airways Corporation

Kwa-Thema learners explored aviation careers through the National Airways Corporation.

Kwa-Thema – The National Airways Corporation (NAC), courtesy of the Masimong Foundation, hosted several high school learners interested in aviation on October 7.

The pupils were initially introduced to the foundation during its career day on June 28, and expressed a desire to explore aviation careers.

Joined by co-founder Sandi Teke, the learners had much to take in throughout the day, including a flight in a Beechcraft 1900D.

Teke was excited to help fulfil the dreams of these youngsters and wished them success in their future careers. She also thanked the NAC team for being excellent hosts.

“I thank Mr and Mrs Teke for making this day possible for us. It was the best experience ever. I learnt a lot about aviation, not just about pilots.

“My highlight was flying in an aeroplane; that was amazing,” said Yvodiah Helder from Phulong Secondary School.

Lucia Mkhwanazi from Tlakula Secondary School felt privileged and honoured to be part of the initiative, describing the experience – from the fire truck ride to the flight – as unforgettable.

“May you continue to groom and open doors for the youth. I gained insight into what aviation is and how it works,” she added.

We received great motivation from the NAC personnel,” said Miyanda Mawire from Kenneth Masikela Secondary School, who thanked the foundation for the opportunity.

“Our mission is to uplift the community, empower and inspire the youth of SA through education and development programmes. We aim to ensure that young people are fully equipped to be the leaders of tomorrow,” said Teke.
