Tsakani – Thuso Mtsweni and Jomo Mpinga are inviting 32 junior teams to take part in their upcoming Tsakani Festive Tournament Games.
They have also extended the invitation to eight masters’ teams to join the competition. The tournament is set to kick off on December 15.
Mtsweni said the idea behind the event is to give young players a platform to showcase their talent and creativity.
“At a time when kids have nothing to do, the tournament aims to keep them occupied and off the streets.
“Not only do we want to keep them entertained and active, but we also want local street vendors to earn a little extra at the sports ground. There will be stalls available at no charge for people to make money,” explained Mtsweni.
He added that the invitation is not only for soccer players and entrepreneurs but for the community as a whole.

“When children receive support, they feel valued, important and recognised. I plead with parents to come to the grounds to watch their children play. This will serve as a confidence booster for the players,” he said.
The organisers hope to award prizes to participants but are seeking sponsorship to make this possible.
“We are in great need of sponsors who can help with items such as certificates of recognition, medals, soccer kits, refreshments and first aid kits.
“We want the tournament to look and feel professional, as it can be a stepping stone for players to progress to bigger leagues,” Mtsweni concluded.
