Woman to appear in Nigel Court for alleged killing of Duduza mechanic

The family of 30-year-old Banele Sibiya is demanding justice after the woman accused of fatally stabbing him was released on R500 bail. She is expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on February 13 as investigations continue.

A woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in Duduza is expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on February 13 after being released on R500 bail.

The accused was arrested following the death of 30-year-old Banele Sibiya, a mechanic from Thabo Village, whom she allegedly stabbed at his home on October 5, 2025.

“We are not happy at all about her release on bail. We feel like our brother’s life is being taken lightly,” said Sibiya’s sister, Ntombikayise Sibiya.

“Banele was a hardworking person who supported himself through his mechanical work and had plans for his future.

“As a family, we are heartbroken and traumatised by what happened. We believe justice must be served, and we want the court to fully consider the seriousness of this case.

“We have lost someone we loved dearly, and nothing will bring him back, but we want accountability,” she said.
