Kwa-Thema mass prayer to focus on peace, safety and South Africa’s future
Community members, church leaders and residents will gather in Kwa-Thema on September 10 to pray for peace, safety, successful elections and the challenges facing communities.
Kwa-Thema – Community members, church leaders, and residents are expected to gather in Kwa-Thema on September 10 for a mass prayer to seek divine intervention for South Africa and address challenges facing communities.
The Ward 74 Committee, in partnership with the Kwa-Thema Minister Fellowship (KTMF) Team, will host the prayer gathering at Back to God Conventional Church.
Pastor Bonginkosi Zwane explained that the gathering seeks to unite members of different denominations, community leaders and residents in prayer for peace, safety and a better future for the country.
“One of the key focus areas will be praying for peaceful community demonstrations amid ongoing civic action and protests concerning border control and undocumented foreign nationals,” he said.

Zwane said they are praying for demonstrations to remain peaceful, with no bloodshed or loss of life.
The prayer will also focus on the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections, with residents encouraged to pray for elections that are fair, transparent and peaceful.
“Matric learners will also be included in the prayers, with the community praying for successful preliminary and final examinations for the Class of 2026.
“Another key concern is safety in schools and communities,” he added.

He further cited that the prayers will be offered against bullying, drug abuse, illegal activities and the use and distribution of illicit drugs.
The mass prayer is intended to promote unity, responsible behaviour and spiritual renewal while encouraging residents to come together in support of their communities and country.
Zwane also highlighted that they need sponsorship for water and fruit for the common elders who will be joining them for the prayer and may need to eat and remain hydrated.
He is calling on residents and members of the church community to attend the gathering and join in prayer for South Africa.
