Celebrating the life of Abram Mbonani
In loving memory of Abram Mbonani who will be missed for his dedication to public service and kindness.
Kwa-Thema – Abram Mbonani (70), who died on September 9, was a dedicated public servant whose life was characterised by commitment, service, compassion and a genuine connection with people.
According to his daughter, Malibuye Tshabalala, Mbonani devoted more than 30 years of his professional life to the Ekurhuleni Municipality, where he served with distinction and made a meaningful contribution to the communities he worked with.
“Throughout his career, Mbonani worked extensively with community members, particularly in matters relating to housing development planning, inspections and municipal processes.
“His work placed him in direct contact with residents from diverse backgrounds, and he approached these interactions with patience, respect and a sincere desire to assist.
“He understood that municipal services were not simply administrative responsibilities, but had a direct impact on people’s homes, families and livelihoods,” she said.

Mbonani’s extensive years of service reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to the Municipality and the communities it served.
Through his involvement in developmental planning and property inspections, he contributed to the orderly development of communities and helped residents navigate processes that were often important milestones in their lives.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mbonani will be remembered for the warm and jovial personality that made him so well known among colleagues, friends and community members.
“He possessed a naturally social spirit and had a way of making people feel comfortable in his presence.
“His jaunty, cheerful and approachable nature, coupled with his ability to engage easily with others, made him a memorable presence wherever he went,” she added.
Her daughter described his father as more than a municipal employee; he was a people’s person.
“His career allowed him to serve many members of the community, and his character allowed him to build lasting relationships along the way.
“Those who knew him will remember not only the work he performed, but also the laughter, conversations, kindness and camaraderie he brought into the lives of others,” Tshabalala cited.
After more than three decades of dedicated service, Mbonani leaves behind a legacy of public service, community involvement and meaningful human connection.
His contribution to Ekurhuleni Municipality and the communities he served will remain part of the lasting story of his life.
Mbonani will be remembered with affection and gratitude as a dedicated professional, a committed community servant, a cherished colleague, and above all, a warm, sociable and jovial soul whose presence brought people together.
“May his memory continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him,” said Tshabalala.
