Kwa-Thema – The woman whose body was found along Moshoeshoe Street in Kwa-Thema on September 15 has been identified.

The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, has confirmed the woman’s identity.

The family identified her as Dineo Evelyn Motapane (38), at the Springs Mortuary on September 16. According to the family, Motapane was last seen alive on Sunday.

At the time her body was discovered, her family had not yet reported her missing. Dimpane has expressed her deepest condolences to the Motapane family during this difficult time.

She has further assured the family and the community that police remain firmly on the ground, with investigations into the murders of the eight women being intensified.

“A multidisciplinary team of investigators and specialists continues to work around the clock to establish the circumstances surrounding each case, identify those responsible, and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” said Dimpane.

The body was discovered on Tuesday by an eyewitness, who requested anonymity. He said he was on his way to work at about 06:40 when he saw the body.
