She Rises encourages girls through an awareness event

As part of the event, the girls received sanitary pads and words of encouragement from local speakers.

Kwa-Thema – She Rises Foundation hosted a Girl Child Awareness event on October 10 at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School in Kwa-Thema to encourage, uplift, and empower young girls.

The initiative also sought to create a supportive environment where girls feel seen, heard, valued, and encouraged to overcome challenges that may affect their growth and development.

The founder, Angel Masilela, said every girl deserves access to opportunities, education, support, and resources that will help her thrive.

She said the event is part of the foundation’s broader mission to empower girls and young people through community outreach, education, skills development, and future programmes that help them build brighter futures.

As part of the programme, learners received participation certificates in recognition of their involvement. The foundation also distributed sanitary pads and refreshments to support and appreciate the young participants.

“She Rises Foundation is looking forward to introducing more programmes focused on empowering girls and youth through education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, personal development, and other growth opportunities,” said Masilela.

Masilela explained that the goal is to continue expanding the programmes and reaching more young people, especially those who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities.

As a growing foundation, Masilela welcomed donations and support from individuals, businesses, organisations, and community members who share our vision of empowering girls and youth.

She said donations of sanitary pads, educational materials, stationery, refreshments, financial contributions, and other resources would help the foundation reach more beneficiaries and sustain its community programmes.

“We believe that empowering a girl today can help transform a community tomorrow. With the support of our community and potential partners, we hope to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people,” she said.
