KwaThema Disbaled Club gets an award

The KwaThema Disabled Club received an award during the Ekurhuleni Sport awards.

The awards were held at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on Friday night to recognise those who have made a positive mark in sport around Ekurhuleni.

The club won an award for being the team of the year. KwaThema Disabled Club contributed towards the success of the National Cerebral Palsy Soccer team.

Two of the club’s players represented South Africa at an International Cerebral Palsy Soccer Tournament in Spain in June 2013, while five represented Gauteng at the National Championships. Receiving the award, Veli Ndaba, from the KwaThema Disabled Club, said the club is grateful for the recognition.

“When we heard that we were nominated in the team of the year category, we were all excited because we then realised that our hard work did not go unnoticed,” said an excited Ndaba. Adding that the place where one comes from will never determine the future.

“There are many champions that come from the dusty streets of KwaThema and we are also prepared to play our part and continue lifting high the flag of where we come from,” said a proud Ndaba.
