KwaThema – Sports fanatics in the country were spoilt to good entertainment on the pitch with the Telkom Knockout Challenge and the Rugby World Cup finals on full display on Saturday.
Kaizer Chiefs broke a sweat with Orlando Pirates, while on the rugby front South Africa made us proud by winning the world cup against England in Japan.
The match between the two Soweto giants was extended to extra time when the referee blew the whistle at a 2-all draw, which ended with 4-2 in favour of Kaizer Chiefs.

The rugby game ended with a 32-12 score, with Makazole Mapimpi scoring the first try, which was history in the making as it was the first-ever try scored by South Africa in a Rugby World Cup final.
Cheslin Kolbe followed suit and scored the second try, which sealed the victory in the 74th minute.
This saw South Africans uniting and celebrating in the victory.
Orlando Pirates supporter Thabo Shuping says even though his team didn’t win the match he is still proud of the boys.
“They fought to the bitter end and only missed two penalties, making their opponents champions of the day.
“This should not be a disappointment to supporters because either one of the teams had to walk away as winners,” he says.
Shuping adds that he is happy with the Springboks’ world cup win.

“We are proud of the boys for bringing the cup home and displaying a good game.
“We are today proud to call ourselves South Africans because we are winners of the world cup,” he adds.
Teka Matsepane, a Kaizer Chiefs fan, says he is proud of the team for fighting to make it into the semi-finals.
“Their display showed us that they are ready to make it into the finals,” he says.
